St Lucia, West Indies
The twin Piton peaks in the south of St Lucia are a truly impressive site covered in lush tropical vegetation dominating the landscape soaring up 2000 feet from the sea. In our opinion, St Lucia is one of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean with its mountainous landscapes, rainforests and wonderful beaches shaped by volcanic activity. The French history is still very evident through the names of towns including its capital Castries to the locally spoken French Patois. St Lucia is a great place to explore, but also offers a great range of hotels where the relaxed atmosphere will help even the busiest of people unwind.
Blue Lizard Travel has some great holidays in St Lucia, with wonderful resorts on offer; many of which I have just visited (July 2009).
Flight times are a managable 7 1/2 hours.
