Holiday Details
| DAY 1 | BELLA BELLA/ONBOARD SHIP
Upon arrival in Bella Bella you will meet your tour
guide at the top of the Municipal Dock located on
the waterfront of Bella Bella. You will then board
the ship at which time cabins will be assigned and
an introductory safety briefing will be completed. The ship will then
depart to the Great Bear Rainforest. Overnight: onboard ship. Lunch
and dinner included. |
| DAYS 2 & 3 FIORDLAND PROVINCIAL PROTECTED AREA | Head deep into the coastal mountains and spend
the next two days on the Fiordland Provincial
Protected Area. Explore remote estuaries and
see bears attracted by the spawning salmon. Kynoch Inlet has some
spectacular rock faces and waterfalls, and you may even visit the
native village of Klemtu to see the longhouse (a multi-family house
used by the Iroquois up until the 18th century and still used today as a
ceremonial structure). Overnights: onboard ship. Breakfasts, lunches
and dinners included. |
| DAYS 4 - 7 | Over the next four days you will embark on the
following excursions in and around the rainforest.
Excursions are subject to change based on weather
conditions. |
| Excursion PRINCESS ROYAL ISLAND | As we travel along the shore of Princess Royal Island you’ll see the rare
Spirit or Kermode bears. You will visit creeks and river estuaries along
the way. |
| Excursion KHUTZEL INLET | You’ll make a stop at Khutze Inlet to view its gorgeous river valley
where an abundance of bird life can be spotted. |
| Excursion A DAY WITH TSHIMSHIAN GUIDES | A whole day will be spent with local Tshimshian guides who will guide
you to their favourite wildlife areas and show you their ancient sites
and intriguing art. |
| Excursion WHALE CHANNEL | At Whale Channel you will come across 15-metre long humpback
whales. This coastline near Cape Caution supports a summer
population of gray whales, and the entire coast is famous for its
population of orcas (killer whales). |
| Excursion PRINCIPE CHANNEL | Principe Channel is one of the best sails of the voyage. Time will be
allocated to explore the protected waters using stable sea kayaks
stored onboard. Our onboard naturalist will help identify different
coastal plants and those who are interested can keep a list of species.
